Chicken House Fire Ignites Adjacent Woods - 5144 Dublin Hill Rd

Monday, March 15, 2021
On May 10, 2010 at 14:00 HRS the BVFC was dispatched with Station 78 and Medic 107 to a Chicken House Fire (next photo story). Upon arrival a quickly spreading fire was observed in the woods adjacent to the chicken house fire. Initial units were committed to firefighting activities with the chicken house. Upon dispatch arriving brush units found a area of fire being driven Southward into the surrinding woods by strong winds. 72-15 transfered woods firefighting operations to 72-17 for the duration of the woods fire. Fire supression activities were hampered by a young growth area of dense pine growth that made the woods inaccessible. With the assistance of forestry units the fire was contained to a managable section of woods, by bull dozing and back burning efforts. Arriving brush units contaied the fire from the edge of the wooded areas. Responding Units - 72-0, 72-1, 72-4, 72-5, 72-6, 72-9, 72-10, 72-00, 72-14, A-72, Medic 107, B-78, 78-2, 78-4, Tanker 78, Gator 78, Tanker 87, 87-5, 87-3, 77-2,77-0, Tanker 81, 74-0, Rescue 71, 71-0, 47-3, FR-11, FR-13, FM-10, FM-16.
